Sonny came to the Harley Street clinic when he was 4 months old. His parents knew another baby who had been treated by LOC and, although they felt nervous about the whole situation, they were reassured by their friend and felt confident enough to arrange an appointment.

Sonny’s parents noticed his head shape flattening at 10 weeks of age and, at that stage, sought support from a cranial osteopath. He was found to have torticollis, which caused tightness in his neck muscles and restricted his movement. As a result, he slept with his head turned to the right, and despite improvement in his neck movement with osteopathic treatment and repositioning, his parents felt his head shape was getting worse rather than better.

At his assessment, Sonny’s measurements showed moderate brachycephaly and severe plagiocephaly. His parents decided to go ahead with LOCband treatment because it felt as though nothing else was working.

Sonny took to wearing the band immediately and his head shape began to improve quickly. He had been waking in the night before treatment and continued to do so for part of the treatment period, but his parents persevered and, towards the end of treatment, his sleeping pattern began to improve. Within 4½ months, his head shape had improved significantly and, by the time his band was removed, he was sleeping on his tummy.

Sonny was a very happy baby who smiled constantly, and his parents were always struck by how much his head shape had changed at each review appointment.

How the LOCband Lite can help with plagiocephaly treatment

Backed by clinical research, LOCband Lite is a non-invasive cranial remoulding helmet designed to support a more balanced head shape over time. Results vary depending on age, severity and daily wear time.

“From the very start, everyone at the London Orthotic Consultancy was professional and friendly. Every step of the way was well-explained and the fitting was quick. It only took Magnus one day to get used to the band, and after that, he wasn’t bothered by it at all. And, most importantly, it worked!”
