Orthotics clinic in Cambridge

Located on the ground floor of 2 Munro House, just off Newmarket Road, our Cambridge clinic is led by Connor Mumford, BSc (Hons) MBAPO, an experienced, HCPC‑registered orthotist who specialises in evidence‑based treatment for children and adults.

The clinic includes an on-site gait laboratory and advanced technology such as 3D scanning, allowing for detailed assessments and data-led orthotic treatment planning. With in-house manufacturing at our headquarters, we design orthoses that fit precisely and support better clinical outcomes across a wide range of conditions, including scoliosis, pectus deformities, plagiocephaly, and complex neurological or musculoskeletal needs.

As an independent clinic, we offer non-surgical solutions tailored to each individual. Every orthosis is designed to improve alignment, support mobility and deliver truly personalised care.

You’ll find our Cambridge clinic on the ground floor of 2 Munro House, Mercers Row, just off Newmarket Road. We’re around a mile and a half from Cambridge city centre, with easy access by car or public transport.

Treatments available

At our Cambridge clinic, we treat a wide range of conditions affecting movement, posture, and skeletal development. We support infants, children and adults with high-quality, bespoke orthotic solutions, Including:

cerebral palsy: improving stability, mobility and alignment through tailored lower-limb bracing and insoles
spina bifida: supporting posture and mobility with custom orthoses for daily function and comfort
hypermobility: helping to manage joint instability and reduce pain with supportive bracing
stroke: aiding rehabilitation and walking ability with specialist orthotic intervention
post-polio syndrome: improving strength, support and gait with custom-designed orthoses
multiple sclerosis: enhancing mobility and confidence through lightweight, functional bracing

As well as non-surgical treatment for:

positional plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome): using our light weight ventilated LOCband Lite.
craniosynostosis: post-operative helmet therapy to protect and shape the head following surgery
pectus excavatum, pectus carinatum and rib flaring: using custom braces to improve chest shape and function without surgery

We also provide:

custom-made insoles: to support foot alignment, relieve pressure and improve comfort in daily movement
custom footwear: tailored to individual needs for optimal fit, support and long-term wearability

What to expect at your Cambridge appointment

At your first appointment, we take the time to understand your condition, lifestyle, and goals. Your orthotist will perform a comprehensive assessment, which may include physical evaluation, gait analysis, or digital scans depending on your needs.

We’ll then explain your orthotic treatment options clearly and, if you’re ready to proceed, take measurements for your orthosis. Fittings typically follow within a few weeks, and we ensure each device offers both precision and comfort.

LOC Cambridge has four dedicated clinic rooms, a gait laboratory and a fully equipped workshop that enables us to provide an optimum service for patients with complex lower limb conditions.

Meet your Cambridge Orthotists

Your assessment will be carried out by Connor Mumford, BSc (Hons), MBAPO, or Erin Henderson, BSc (Hons), MBAPO. Both are experienced orthotists with a strong orthotics background and a shared focus on delivering personalised, non-surgical care for adults and children.

Connor supports children and adults with a broad range of orthotic needs, including cranial remoulding for plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome), neck and spinal conditions, scoliosis, and pectus conditions. He also assesses and supports knee, ankle and foot concerns, and provides custom insoles and bespoke footwear. Connor takes an evidence-based, personalised approach to care. Erin supports children and adults with a range of orthotic needs. She provides custom insoles, footwear assessment and advice, and lower limb ankle-foot orthosis (AFO) assessments. Erin also supports patients with scoliosis and plagiocephaly, and can carry out pectus reviews where appropriate.

Together, they offer compassionate, expert care and work closely with families to ensure each orthotic solution is tailored to individual needs and daily life.

He established a good rapport with our son during his assessment and subsequent follow ups. The new splints and shoes have really helped his mobility already. It is a costly service, but I feel hopeful that it is money well spent. All children deserve this calibre of treatment and equipment, to give them the best opportunity to be comfortable and progress in their journeys. Ultimately, good orthotics may well prevent or at least delay further traumatic surgery.

I have recently had a brace fitted by Connor Mumford at the Cambridge LOC clinic after numerous surgeries, but most recently fusion to my calcaneocuboid joint (after a complex trauma injury a few years ago). I am still in pain almost a year down the line since the fusion and struggle to walk my dogs due to pain weight bearing and on uneven ground. The brace has completely changed my life, and that is by no means an exaggeration. I am now able to start doing longer walks with my dogs and without crutches too. The brace helps with offloading my weight when weight bearing and also helps keep my ankle secure on uneven ground. I am walking faster and my gait has improved. I can’t believe that I can now walk and hold a dog lead instead of having them clipped around my waist and having to use two crutches. It’s unfortunately looking like I am due to have more surgery to have hardware removal and the future is looking uncertain in terms of my recovery, but this brace has provided me with comfort and reassurance that I can at least have some sense of normality now. Connor is extremely knowledgeable (and I can say this after working with a number of or the orthopaedic surgeons, physios, & orthotists over the last few years), he has never made me feel rushed, he’s a really good listener, he takes the time to make sure everything is absolutely perfect with your fitting, he is a kind & compassionate person who genuinely cares about his patients and gets results. Plus my dogs like him and they’re a good judge of character! I could not recommend seeing Connor more, and if it is a foot/ ankle injury, having one of these braces fitted, especially if you’re someone like me that has had numerous surgeries over the years and is still in pain, or if you just have general foot problems and need the extra support. The brace has given me a new lease of life and I am forever grateful to the LOC & Connor.

Feeling lost with doctors saying Rowan would likely always have a noticeable flat spot and ears misaligned, but it’s only cosmetic so they wouldn’t do anything, I came across LOC. I read numerous reviews and decided as free consultation couldn’t hurt. I was very emotional and nervous about the appointment but Connor from the get go was very understanding and put me at ease. I had a lot of questions and had read a lot about plagiocephaly, and Connor was happy to answer all my questions. The whole process felt honest and open and I felt confident putting my trust into Connor and that helmet therapy was the right course of action for us to take and worth the money. Rowan has gone from 16mm asymmetry to 4mm. We are so thrilled and thankful. I would 100% recommend LOC if you’re concerned about your babies head shape.
Think Rowan will miss his visits and his chance to show off and play with Connor’s toys and measuring tools.
