Typically when a child has limited movement of a joint it is because the muscle is too short and lacks the flexibility to allow easy movement of the bones of the joint.  The treatment involves encasing the affected area, usually the calf muscle, in a plaster cast.

Treatment is for a three week period. The cast is removed and re-applied on a weekly basis as the range of movement improves.

LOC has enjoyed tremendous success with this method of treatment for some contractures, with children able to use their arm or leg better or be able to fit and wear a brace or splint more comfortably.
