Bespoke Orthotic Products
Orthotic design is continuously improving and combined with the introduction of lighter materials (like carbon fibre), functionality, comfort and fit are way ahead of where they were 5 years ago.
The London Orthotic Consultancy is committed to providing its patients with the most up-to-date Orthoses available; we are always assessing new and innovative products.
Below is the range of body, lower limb and ankle Orthotics that we fit; the majority we make ourselves and are bespoke for each patient we treat.
Blue Fish print ankle foot orthoses (AFOs) ready to be trimmed and fitted to a patient.
All our AFOs are bespoke, based on each patient’s exact measurements and requirements.
The DAFO is designed to stabilise the foot in the mediolateral plane.
We have found SMOs to be very effective in helping the rehabilitation of children following the ground breaking SDR surgery.
Several patients approached us requesting we design them an AFO that could be worn in the shower, for swimming, for holiday. So we designed an AFO specifically for use in water.
The majority of the KAFOs that we prescribe and fit now are of carbon fibre manufacture.
LOC uses the OActive Single Upright Osteoarthritis Knee Brace which provides the required leverage for medial or lateral compartment unloading. The brace has a specific angle adjustment to optimise pain relief. It is a low profile, light weight design enhancing comfort and compliance.
Ankle Braces are used to help rehabilitation following injury to the ankle.
The E-MAG Active knee joint system locks and unlocks the knee joint during walking. The knee joint is electronically locked during the stance phase (weight bearing) and is unlocked during the swing through phase (non-weight bearing). It therefore facilitates a secure and dynamic gait pattern.
Night Splints are an effective way of maintaining range of motion in a knee or ankle.
The SAFO is a flexible silicone device that envelopes the foot to prevent foot drop when walking.
The GRAFO is designed to offer the knee, ankle and foot as much stability as possible with a device that does not come above the knee.
LOC uses specially designed knee and ankle joints to create bespoke contracture correction orthoses.
We primarily use the Walk About Orthosis in the rehabilitation of patients with a spinal injury.
Serial Casting is used over a short time frame to stretch muscles that have contracted.
Child's spinal brace
LOC specialises in spinal bracing for neurological conditions and for physical conditions. We produce other braces like the Gensingen brace by Dr Weiss for scoliosis patients.
The Dynamic Movement Orthosis is designed to apply a global compression to the joint and body segment it is worn over. This compression acts to increase the client’s awareness of that part of the body, this process is called proprioception.
The advent of carbon fibre has allowed the creation of a new range of orthoses that are not only lighter and less bulky but also stronger than traditional makes.
