LOC Manufacturing
LOC Manufacturing manufactures all foot Orthotics for The London Orthotic Consultancy and also external companies and other Orthotists.
We have invested heavily in Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacture (CADCAM) for foot Orthotics. This state of the art equipment has revolutionised Orthotic production. Conventionally a cast or foam box was taken. This was sent to a manufacturing unit to produce the Orthotics. With the birth of CADCAM Orthotics can be made while you wait and with a greater degree of accuracy and precision. Techniques that were thought impossible previously are now available at the touch of a button.
Step 1.
A 3D foot scan is taken of the feet. This provides a fast but highly accurate way of capturing the detailed contouring of the soles of the feet.
Description: Portable 3D Laser Foot Scanner
With the introduction of the Portable 3D foot scanner LOC Manufacturing can provide the Orthotist with a genuine advance in foot Orthotic manufacture. We feel that this technology is the way forward providing a highly accurate but fast method of 3D foot capture.
Step 2.
The 3D scan is then designed to the required prescription. The basic shape is taken from the scan but complex adaptations can be made to correct biomechanical dysfunction or accommodate for stiff or fixed ankle problems. All the information is stored on our database which provides an efficient method of recalling clients' details and ordering repeat insoles if required.

Step 3.
The modelled insole is sent to the Milling machine. This is a state of the art piece of equipment that precisely cuts the insoles from a block of material. Material can be chosen that has different densities to accommodate different foot types and foot problems. The insoles fit intimately to the feet. They contour perfectly as a result of the scanners' detailed measurements.

Step 4.
The insole is fitted to the required footwear. This is a incredibly important part of the process as incorrect insole fitting can change the properties of the insoles entirely. At LOC, therefore, fitting is carried out by your Orthotist who is not only trained in the manufacturing process but also understands the requirements of the Orthotic in relation to your feet.
Description: A full range of insole covering is avaliable
Obviously if the Orthosis is ordered externally the fitting stage is not possible. The Orthotics are designed to try and minimise the amount of adjustment required. We also work closely with our customers to ensure perfect results
Step 5.
After a trial fit the insoles are fine tuned for a perfect fit. Whether it is for medical purposes of for high performance sports every detail is thought of.
